The Love of God through Jesus Christ
The Sacrifice of God
Throughout the history of humankind, and all around the world people have offered sacrifices to their gods. Why? In the belief their gods would not be angry with them, or their gods would be pleased with their sacrifices and reward them in some way.
Some have even offered men, women, children and babies as sacrifices – while still alive to the flames and be burned to ashes.
But the God of all creation, the Lord God of the Christians, did two things that no other god has done for their followers.
The first thing that God did, was to offer himself through Jesus Christ as a sacrifice.
In Romans 5:6-8 we read.
6 For when we were still helpless, Christ died for the wicked at the time that God chose. 7 It is a difficult thing for someone to die for a righteous person. It may even be that someone might dare to die for a good person. 8 But God has shown us how much he loves us—it was while we were still sinners, even enemies of God, that Christ died for us!
In John 3:16 we read why Christ died for us.
16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son Jesus Christ, so that everyone who believes and trusts in Jesus will not die in the Lake of Fire (the Second Death), but have eternal life in God’s Kingdom of Heaven.
This is why Jesus Christ died a sacrificial death on the cross 2000 years ago. So that you might find the sacrifice of God acceptable and pleasing to you!
That even though you lived your life without any concern for God, without any concern for the commandments of God, and while your attitude to Jesus Christ made you an enemy of God. Jesus sacrificed his life for you.
That you might accept the gift of God of eternal life in heaven. Why? Because God not only loved the world, He extended his love to you.
Can you find any other god that has done that for his followers? No!
You can experience the Love of God in your life.
This is love, that Jesus Christ lives in You!
That sacrifice of God for your benefit is amazing, yet that is not the only thing God has done for you. Because if you care to read the Gospel of John from chapter 13:34 to chapter 17:24, you will discover something else that no other god has done for his followers.
Jesus said to his disciples.
15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. 16 I will ask God the Father, and he will give you another Helper, the Holy Spirit of God, who will stay with you forever.
17 He is the Holy Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive him, because it cannot see him or know him.
But you know him, because he remains with you and is in you. John 14:15-17.
God loves you so much, that through the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ lives in YOU!
As Paul wrote in his letter to the Corinthians.
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit of God, who is in you, whom you have received from God. 1 Corinthians 6:19.
And Paul wrote to the Romans.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in you. He who raised Christ from the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies, through His Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11.
At the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion and sacrificial death.
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
27 Then He took the cup of wine, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:26-28.
Every Sunday in churches worldwide, they celebrate the service of Holy Communion. Where the followers of Jesus Christ take a sip of wine and a small piece of bread. Symbols of the body and blood and sacrifice on the cross.
As you drink the wine and eat the bread, you can feel them go down, deep inside of you. It is as though God is pouring His love into you. God wants you to know your body is a temple of God, and Jesus Christ lives in YOU!
God want to be with you and guide you through the rest of your life here on Earth. You are only here for a very short time, and God is going to transform your life in preparation for eternal life in His Kingdom of Heaven.
The more you allow God to take control of your life, the more of the love, joy, peace, power and presence of God you will experience in your life.
