What is Alpha?

Alpha is a chance to ask questions and explore the Christian faith in a fun, no-pressure environment.

Alpha takes place across ten sessions, usually once a week.

Each session includes food, a short talk, and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts.

If at any point you decide Alpha isn’t for you, that’s not a problem. There’s no pressure, no follow up, and no charge.

The Book by Book videos and books are designed to be easy to use for anyone. Our aim is to help you know Jesus better whether you are a new Christian or have been studying the Bible for years.

Study whole Bible books

Book by Book makes studying whole books of the Bible straightforward, revealing Jesus' presence throughout and enriching your understanding of God.

Flexible and accessible

Our videos are free to use on YouTube and consist of six to ten 15-minute programmes. Each Bible book also has an easy-to-understand guidebook - available in print or as an e-book.

Outstanding Bible teachers

Our special guests and hosts include Joni Eareckson Tada, Anne Graham Lotz, Rico Tice, Paul Blackham, Joseph Steinberg and Richard Bewes. Their teaching will help you deepen your relationship with Jesus.

The Bible is the most important book in the world. It will not only take you through the whole history of the universe from beginning to end, but it can also speak clearly to you about your life: Why are you here? How should you live? Book by Book will help you discover the Bible's own answers.

Videos

Each video is a discussion around a portion of a Bible book and features discussions with Paul Blackham, our resident theologian, a host, and one or more guests. They are a great starter for a group discussion or for more detailed study, perhaps using the accompany guidebook. Use them yourself, in your home group or even for the whole church!

The aim of the videos is to help you experience the joy of meeting Jesus in the whole Bible. The first books in the Bible come from over 1500 years before the birth of Jesus, yet you will discover His birth, life, death and resurrection prophesied there. Jesus himself said that the whole Bible was about him (John 5:39), and Book by Book will help show you how.

Guidebooks

The Book by Book Study Guides are intended to help you read and understand the Bible. They are written with enough depth to satisfy the mature Christian but written in an accessible style so that they can also be used if you are new to the Bible.

Each study corresponds with one of the videos available for free on YouTube, and ends with a number of questions for group or personal study. Other Bible passages related to the chapter are also suggested for reflection during the week.

In this book are the testimonies of fifty men and women holding doctorates in a wide range of scientific fields. All fifty of these scientists, through faith and scientific fact, have come to the conclusion that God's Word is true and everything had its origin not so very long ago.

'In Six Days.' 50 scientists who have been convinced by the evidence to believe in a literal six-day creation.  They share their faith in God based on the scientific evidence for God.

Skepticism About Darwinian Evolution Grows as 1,000+ Scientists Share Their Doubts.

Over 1,000 doctoral scientists from around the world have signed a statement publicly expressing their skepticism about the contemporary theory of Darwinian evolution. The statement, located online at dissentfromdarwin.org, reads: “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

“Because no scientist can show how Darwin’s mechanism can produce the complexity of life, every scientist should be skeptical,” said biologist Douglas Axe, director of Biologic Institute. “The fact that most won’t admit to this exposes the unhealthy effect of peer pressure on scientific discourse.”

Discovery Institute first published its Scientific Dissent from Darwinism list in in The New York Review of Books in 2001 to challenge false statements about Darwinian evolution made in PBS’s series Evolution. Promoters of the series, among others, claimed that “virtually every scientist in the world believes the theory to be true.”

Bruce Chapman, Discovery Institute’s Chairman of the Board, found 100 PhD scientists to sign the initial dissent statement. Realizing that there were likely more scientists worldwide who shared some skepticism of Darwinian evolution and were willing to go on record, the Institute has maintained the list and added to it continually since its inception. 

The list of signatories now includes 15 scientists from the National Academies of Science in countries including Russia, Czech Republic, Brazil, and the United States, as well as from the Royal Society. Many of the signers are professors or researchers at major universities and international research institutions such as the University of Cambridge, London’s Natural History Museum, Moscow State University, Hong Kong University, University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, Institut de Paléontologie Humaine in France, Ben-Gurion University in Israel, MIT, the Smithsonian, Yale, and Princeton.

“As a biochemist I became skeptical about Darwinism when I was confronted with the extreme intricacy of the genetic code and its many most intelligent strategies to code, decode, and protect its information,” said Dr. Marcos Eberlin, founder of the Thomson Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences in Brazil.
